Google Earth casualty map

Someone has taken the time to map the hometowns of every soldier who has died in Iraq and Afghanistan in Google Earth.

I didn’t realize until I looked at this that one of those casualties — Marine Lance Corporal Dustin Fitzgerald, died August 18, 2004 — was from my old neighborhood.

Rest in peace, Corporal.

Sound Off, Loudmouth!

Heidi says:

Not only was he from our hometown, he died on my birthday. It seems unfair that we get to go on celebrating birthdays while so many young soldiers will never get to celebrate another one with their families. RIP, Dustin.
