What’s Worth Listening To?

Posted on Thursday, June 28, 2007

It occurs to me that I could stand to get some new music. I haven't bought a new CD in, like, forever. And I'm not one of those Evil Internet Pirates, I just haven't been paying attention to what's out there very closely.  So now my music collection is kinda boring.

I already know one album I want to pick up, but I could use some suggestions as to others. So sound off in the comments: what's worth listening to these days?

(Note: don't worry too much about whether or not the genres you like are genres I'll like. I'll try just about anything once.)

Sound Off, Loudmouth!

Sandy says:

Niacin. Billy Sheehan of Mr. Big and David Lee Roth’s solo band fame has an electric jazz trio with a Hammond organ/piano player and an absolutely phenomenal drummer.
Also, Richard Leo Johnson’s solo guitar, particularly “The Legend of Vernon McAlister”. Kinda bluegrass-influenced avant garde, but very musical.

Oscar says:

From South of the Border I’d recommend:
Soda Stereo – El Ultimo Concierto, particularly Persiana America and De Musical Ligera

If that's too hard to understand... well, I'm sorry. There's only so much I can do. I'm not a therapist, and I'm not a miracle worker. I wish I could help you work through your delusional belief that I'm speaking for anyone else but myself. Honestly, I do. But in the end, that's a monkey you'll have to get off your back on your own. Sorry.
