Why I Can’t Take Digg Seriously, Vol. 2

Seen today:

4 of top 10 Digg stories are Ron Paul spam

4 of the top 10 stories on Digg today are essentially the same story: Ron Paul r00lz, Rudy Giuliani dr00lz.

Regardless of what you think of the merits of candidate Paul versus candidate Giuliani, it’s hard to imagine a world where that particular debate would actually merit this volume of navel-gazing.

Well, far be it from me to copy an abbreviation favored by Michelle Malkin, but the MSM did step on their crank on this one. It’s been reported as “Giuliani smacks weirdo” without any attempt to call Giuliani on his bizarre statements about being a Middle East terrorism expert who somehow has never heard of the blowback theory.
Yes, Paul is a crank, but that doesn’t mean he’s wrong or that he’s not being unfairly hosed by the same kind of uncritical media that helped us get into the war in the first place.

Oh, I don’t disagree. I think Paul is closer to reality on this issue than Giuliani is. I just think it’s ridiculous that the issue has basically taken over Digg for the week.
